I went to Hawaii May, 2016 with my friend Barbara McNeil.  It was only Friday through Monday, but we had a wonderful time.  I went snorkeling.  We saw the Hawaiian Temple, and the D-Day Harbor.   They offered a class in quilting and so I signed up to attend.  They gave the class an applique to attach to the white fabric.  The applique is hand sewn on to the fabric and then I hand quilted the 3 pieces together.  I just finished it in April, 2026.   I didn't work on it too frequently.  My son's partner bought me a book on Hawaiian quilting and it stated that each applique is unique to the family that creates a quilt and that they hand quilt with waves on the fabric to represent the ocean. I had fabric similar to the applique and so I put piping on it.

Finished two quilts for children with pillows to match.  The fabric shows a town with streets and railroad crossings.  This is a fun quilt for a child to play with if they want to play with their cars or trucks on the quilt.   Finished 4.29.2026

RAG QUILTS Rag Quilts are a fun and easy way to make a quilt.  There is no formal quilting to be done.  You cut the squares with three layers and make an X to hold the pieces together.   Jauary 2024 - First rag quilt was made with flannel for all three layers. March 2026 -     I machine embroidered sea life animals to make it more fun.  The back of the quilt is sea turtles swimming in the ocean.
